Hello
Hello and welcome to Comparative Literature! In this course we will be tackling some difficult content! We will be reading William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet and The Twelfth Night, F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and The Beautiful and the Damned, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, The Help by Kathryn Stockett, and The Color Purple by Alice Walker. We will be watching the movies for these works as well and then comparing the themes to our modern society to analyze whether or not they are still relevant today.
My Story
Hey! My name is Jordan O'Neal and welcome to Comparative English! I got my undergraduate in English at Western Michigan University. I then pursued my graduate and teaching degree at Western as well. I am from Evanston, IL, about 15-20 minutes from the city of Chicago! I am so excited to be teaching y'all this year! I enjoy teaching the different ways that one could interpret literature, the impact it has on society whether that be modern or during the time period when the work was written, and teaching the writing process.

Outside of classes, I coach the Girls JV Swim team along with the being a goalie coach for the Girls Waterpolo team in the Spring! I played waterpolo and swam all throughout high school and I am so excited to get back in the saddle and coach these awesome young ladies! Under the more tab, there will be a space available for more information about the swim and waterpolo teams, along with our practice schedule!
I am so excited to take a deep dive into these works and see what we come up with.
